Glen Ellyn Golf Course Hardwood Floor Project
We frequently get requests to see more pictures of the projects that we work on, so… we thought we should start highlighting a few of the more interesting jobs we have here on our blog.
Last month we had a fun hardwood floor installation and refinishing project in the newly renovated Glen Oak Country Club.
This upscale private club in Glen Ellyn, Illinois was established in 1911 and the current clubhouse dates back to 1924 so there’s lots of history here. The club boasts a beautiful 18 hole golf course, a Skeet and Trap Club, a swimming pool and the clubhouse hosts many private banquets, upscale weddings and romantic candlelit dinners.
It was going to be very hard not getting distracted on this job!
Our part in the renovations was to refinish the beautiful Brazilian Cherry floors in the main dining area, as well we were asked to rip out the old carpet and install, stain and refinish new Red Oak flooring in the room that features the fireplace and grand piano.
First was the dining room.
Below you can see the dull, scratched, gapped and dented condition the dining room floors were in before we got to work…
This poor floor has seen way too many high heels, spills, chairs being dragged across it and just general abuse that most restaurant floors are subjected to.
In the photo below we are removing the old finish and sanding down to raw wood with the belt sander. The funny looking green machine in the background is the TRIO that we use on the very last sand to make sure these floors will be perfectly smooth and flat…
And here’s the end result…
Not too bad hey. A much better look for this upscale club.
We finished these Brazilian Cherry floors with our top of the line finish system (Pall-X 98) to make sure they will be able to stand up to the demands they’ll be subjected to during the coming years of candlelit dinners, banquets and weddings.
This was probably one of the nicest views we’ve had for a floor sanding project. Unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy it too much though as we were super focused on the floors most of the time.
As well as refinishing the dining area, we were also asked to install wood flooring in a lounge area of the club where they feature a fireplace and a piano.
You can see below what the room looked like previously with the old dusty carpet…
And here’s the room after the carpet was removed and we installed 800 square foot of Red Oak…
What a difference!
The oak floor was stained a rich coffee brown stain color and again we applied our top-of-the-line finish system (Pall-X 98) to make sure they are extremely durable and look great for years down the road.
The management at the Glen Oak Country Club are extremely happy with how the floors turned out and so are we. I’m sure you can see why we love this work so much. Lots of hard work but lots of satisfaction at the end of each project.
As we finish up other interesting projects we’ll make sure we feature them here on our blog for you to see as well.
